Getting to know... Coach Paige

What is currently inspiring you and in what way?

I really find it inspiring the way everyone has reacted through the pandemic. It had such a massive impact on all our lives yet everyone just took it in their stride and adjusted their lives to continue as normally as possible. Especially when it came to training online everyone totally smashed it!

You're stuck on a deserted island. Tell us three items you would take with you?

If I was stuck on a deserted island I would take sun cream because I burn VERY easily, my dog for company and a row boat so I could row my way to freedom.

What’s the best thing about working at Tempest?

Everyone joins tempest for a different reason, whether that be to boost their confidence or to simply become fitter. Helping them work towards and reach their goals whilst falling in love with the sport is the most rewarding thing ever and it’s a privilege to be a part of it.

What's your favourite thing to do when you’re not at Tempest?

Although I love being at Tempest, when I’m not there I love taking my dogs out for walks and going out for long bike rides along the coast.

Why Martial Arts?

Personally I started martial arts because my confidence was very low and I got bullied a lot at school. Since starting I’ve found that not only has my confidence rocketed but I’ve fallen in love with the sport and now I’m able to help and pass that onto others.

If you could receive one superpower, what would you like?

Shapeshifting 100%, because you could change into whatever you want! Just imagine being your favourite animal or celebrity for a day!

We all have tough days… If you’re having a bad day, what do you do to turn things around?

I’ve found when I’m having a bad day if I just try to do the things I enjoy and put on a happy face in the end I end up looking at things in a completely different way. For example I always try to either train or go to see my friends which always cheers me up!

Share one thing on your bucket list people may not expect from you?

I’ve always wanted to do a parachute jump because I think it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity which hopefully I’ll experience very soon!

If you could visit a fictional land or place, where would you go?

I would 100% go to Hogwarts because they’ve got so many cool animals and it’d just be amazing to be able to do magic for a day.

What are you most grateful for?

I’m grateful for a lot in my life, I think I’ve been extremely lucky to be given the opportunities I have. However I think I’m most grateful that I get to do my dream job at such a young age and that I get to pass on the knowledge I’ve built up so far onto others just joining the sport.
